Hornbills crowned Kings of the Wicket
The Eagles side played their old-time rivals and current title holders from Tzaneen, Hornbills Cricket Club.
POLOKWANE – An inconsistent bouncy pitch on the A-field of the Polokwane Cricket Club caused havoc for the batsmen of Eagles Cricket Club in their final 50 overs Limpopo Impalas Sunday Premier League match on Sunday.
Sedibu Mohlaba, Club Co-ordinator from Limpopo Impalas, says the little bit of rain on Saturday evening, together with the overcast conditions on Sunday morning, could also have added to the inconsistency of the pitch.
The Eagles side played their old-time rivals from Tzaneen, Hornbills Cricket Club. Hornbills are the current title holders. Hornbill won the toss and elected to field first.

The irregularity of the pitch caught the Eagles batsmen completely off guard and they were not very amused to be all out for a mere 58 runs after just 19 of the 50 allocated overs.
The Hornbills batsmen in reply did not have it so easy as they anticipated it would be an easy feat chasing down a low runs scoring match. Then ten wides by the Eagles bowlers did not help their cause to defend the low runs score.
The Hornbills batsmen eventually sailed passed the required target for the loss of three wickets, posting 63 runs to retain their Sunday Premier League 50 overs title.
