Mulisa runs the airways and rules the stage

Energy FM presenter says she is crazy in love with the microphone

POLOKWANE – Energy FM presenter, Mulisa Mudau (21), has enough spunk to rock the mic on air and on stage.

Mulisa was born and raised in Sasolburg (Zamdela), in the Free State. She now resides in Turfloop, Mankweng.

“I am currently in my third year studying towards a BA Degree in information studies at the University of Limpopo,” she said.

“I should say the course chose me, and it was hard for me at first to come to terms with the fact that I could only obtain the degree that I have always wanted, which is a law degree, after I get this one in the bag.

“After all, the world is full of possibilities and having two degrees will be a bonus,” she added optimistically.

“I am crazy in love with the microphone, you will find me as an MC at various events, on campus and around Polokwane”

“I work for the University of Limpopo Student Governance, where we organise events, mainly beauty pageants, and the best part about the job is that we get to groom ladies and gentlemen on how to carry themselves and, most importantly, we help build their self-esteem. We basically teach them how to believe in their own power and be confident,” she explains.

She believes hard work, time management and a lot of research is the key to success

“As a presenter, one needs to keep up with the times because people listen to you, especially as a radio presenter, I literally have to give as much information as I can to the listeners, because not everyone has time to go through every news feed on social media, or buy the paper. They could be travelling or doing other things therefore they depend on this medium to provide all the information which doesn’t have to be boring.”

She says regardless of whether or not she had a rough day, the minute the mic is on, she needs to bring out her best personality and connect with the listeners on an emotional level considering the fact that they can’t see her, therefore she feels she needs to depend on her sweet voice.

“When I first got into the radio industry, I thought it was all about the glitz and glam, so the hard work and the sweat really took me by surprise”

“I will forever be grateful to Energy FM for introducing me to what it really takes to be a presenter and the support from Bothwell Matewe, our station manager,” she added.

Mulisa believes the amount of discipline her job has instilled in her, has shaped her personality. Above everything she loves the fact that it’s not all about work, they work as hard as they play.

“I love the humility among my colleagues. The Energy FM family are people who are willing to help others and that is amazing. And to this day I have never felt out of place, there is support, from management level, down to the employee. They offer their time and advice so that I can continue learning and grow as a presenter. How cool is that?” she concludes.
