Kizzy Blacksoul makes hip hop in the name of the Holy Spirit

Kizzy delivers the word of God through hip hop

POLOKWANE –  Following the death of his father in 2008, Bapedi Entertainment record label founder, Kinsley Kizzy Blacksoul Maepa, was inspired to write and sing gospel songs.

His music, however, is delivered with a twist as his sound has a distinct hip hop beat.

“I sang in a gospel choir at church when I was younger and I would never miss a practice session. Here I developed a love for gospel but I also enjoyed to listen to artists such as J-Cole. He is one of the inspirations behind my music,” he said.

Born and bred in Ga-Thaba, situated in Ga-Molepo, and studied marketing at Boston City Campus and Business College. He is now studying entrepreneurship at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT).

He records all his songs at Jamaica Music Productions Studios in his hometown. He has recorded three singles thus far, It’s ok it’s alright, Lost in pain featuring Debbie Mars, and Start over, and is working on Grateful. He has been on several radio stations for interviews where he talked about his background, his music, and why he chose the gospel hip-hop genre.

“I perform at schools in my area to motivate learners and to give up-and-coming artists exposure by inviting them to showcase their talent during my shows. This gives them experience and the opprotunity to grow as artists. We host events in rural areas because we want to cater for those who cannot travel to urban areas to and watch music shows. We try by all means to bring the entertainment to them.”

Since 2013 every year on Youth Day Kinsley hosts Youth Day celebration events at Moefadi Primary School in Ga-Molepo, with the help of Jebzi Mash Beats (JMZ) Music Company.

Through his music Kinsley says he can support his two brothers, Phenius (16) and Modibe (20), and his mom, a single parent, who he describes as a praying and strong woman in his life.

“We will gladly welcome artists who are willing to join the Bapedi Entertainment crew and help their talent flourish.”
