Members of the Bushveld Model Racing Club (BMR) had an opportunity to sharpen their racing skills at the BMR race course during the club’s monthly club-points racing day on Saturday.
The drivers competed on the flat track, a smooth tar-surfaced track resembling the likes of Formula-1 and Touring Car races. The scale model vehicles are all electrically driven and vary between front wheel drive, rear wheel drive and four wheel drive.
The drivers also competed in 5 different categories. The categories include the front-wheel drive stock-, front-wheel drive modified-, Tamiya Cup-, touring modified- and touring stock classes.
Renier Smit was the fastest driver in the front-wheel drive stock class with Kobus Strydom being the fastest in the front-wheel drive modified class.
In the Tamiya Cup, Dirk Badenhorst proved to be the quickest with Kobus Strydom winning the touring modified category. Johan Cracknell was the fastest racer in the touring stock class.
