After struggling with water for at least six years, the community of Ga-Mabotja in Mmotong will finally enjoy clean water thanks to Hillary Construction who built a water project worth R98 920 in the area.
The company provided all the necessary material and labour and operated tirelessly to complete the project within two weeks. Hillary Construction quantity surveyor, Jackson Motswane who represented the company during the official handover of the project in the area on Saturday said this was their way of giving back to the community. He said they had received a request from the community and decided to extend a helping hand. Motswane indicated that the company helps communities in dare need of basic services as often as possible. He further said the whole point of the project was for the community to stop worrying and have access to clean water.
Ga-Mabotja headwoman, Maphuti Mabotja said the community has been struggling with water for many years and she was delighted that residents will finally have access to clean water. She thanked the company for responding positively to the community’s needs and hoped that other companies will follow in Hillary’s footsteps and assist rural communities where possible.
Samuel Mashitisho, Mabotja traditional council member said there was a huge reservoir in the area but it never supplied residents with water that is why they opted to ask for assistance from Hillary. He further said this was one of the biggest projects ever in the community and pledged that the traditional council would do everything in its power to ensure that all the equipment remained safe.
