Bridget Rapakgadi, a local beauty hailing from Botlokwa has her sights set on the Justice Pageant SA 2019 title which she thinks would assist her in reviving moral values and the spirit of ubuntu among the youth across the country.
Rapakgadi is one of 20 semi-finalists from different provinces competing for the title. She said the contest, hosted in collaboration with No Crime Culture Project, was all about a moral revolution. She explained that as a semi-finalist she is tasked to visit schools and community centres to remind people about the importance of sharing, loving, unity, caring, integrity, equality and most importantly, respect.
She recently visited her alma mater, Boduma Primary during the institution’s Africa Day celebration where she was granted a platform to address more than 600 learners and 20 educators about a moral revolution. She plans to visit more schools after the winter holidays and indicated that the competition also requires learners to write poems or songs on any aspects of moral revolution or plant trees to stand a chance of being recognised and rewarded by the Justice SA pageant.
Rapakgadi already has four titles under her belt namely Miss Sefoloko Secondary School Senior 2009 first princess, Miss SAPS Stop Crime 2009 second princess, Miss South of Equator 2018 second runner-up and Miss Ambassador Kwazulu-Natal 2018 overall charity winner.
“During the event at the school I personally learnt more about our origin as Africans. I also learnt about a variety of colours on the national flag, their importance and meaning. As for the pageant, it is unique because it strives to revive moral values rather than most contests that only focus on charity work. I use my pageant titles to motivate the youth in my community and I am confident that I will win the Justice SA title to continue educating people about the importance good morals,” Rapakgadi stated.
The winners of the pageant will be announced in due course when the finals take place in Gauteng at a venue on dates yet to be confirmed.
