And the SEMA goes to…

The Sepedi Music Awards (Sema) dished out its annual accolades during a ceremony at the VIP Suites at the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex on Saturday night.

POLOKWANE – The Semas celebrate the best artists and cultural icons who are record-breakers on the Sepedi music scene.

King Monada took home four awards on Saturday night when he scooped best khelobedu music award, album of the year, artist of the year and song of the year. This made him the biggest winner of the second annual Sema.

Tsa Manyalo queen, Pleasure picked up the SEMA for best Tsa Manyalo for her song, Baswabile and best Afro-pop song for Shakeng. Rapper Papzito also sealed the double-win with best hip-hop and best music video award for Mokibelo which features iFani. DJ Sunco and Queen Jenny won best house music for their song, Matswale and Psalmist Pule won best Gospel song for Jesu a Fihla. The highly contested Makgakgasa/ Mpepetlwane group award went to Ipopeng Cultural Group.

UDicksym Kekana with Teba who won the best Afro jazz song at Sema.

Thobela FM’s Matome Sekuba won best Sepedi radio presenter, while Elaneng Skobo won best Sepedi comedian. Teba’s Ga ke so mmone took home the best Afro jazz song and Kganya’s Pula Ya Borare earned him the best Sepedi poet award.

New kid on the block, Peazfade from Bolobedu walked away with the best collaboration for his song Why? and Khutso Kay won best Afro-soul for her song, Kgosigadi and 3-Dimensions won best kwaito song for Kena.
