Pupils from Carolina and surrounds discuss how they would address social ills if they were the station commander

A total of 14 pupils from Grade 8 to Grade 10 from seven schools took part.

Pupils from various schools participated in an orating contest in Carolina, on 31 May and discussed how they would address gangsterism, drugs and bullying in schools if they were the station commander at a police station.

A total of 14 pupils from Grade 8 to Grade 10 from seven schools took part.

Members from Carolina Police and the Carolina Department of Education judged the speeches.

Lebogang Sithole from Zinikeleni Secondary School won the competition and walked away with a prize of R400.

Melokuhle Maseko from Carolina Combined achieved a second place and won R300.

Snethemba Duba from Ezinikeleni Secondary School was third and won R200 while Prosper Madonsela from Carolina Academy was fourth and received R100.

All prizes were sponsored by Dr Jina, acting chairman of the community policing forums of Carolina Police.
