Lekwa Clean Up Crew fixes potholes in Caledon Street
The LCUC relies heavily on community support to continue their work all around Standerton.
The Lekwa Clean Up Crew (LCUC) has been keeping the streets of Standerton clean for over eight years, taking on projects that affect residents directly.
Over the years, this NPO has grown into an asset for the town, completing regular maintenance projects.
According to Jandré Kasselman of Kasselman Security Services, the LCUC is run by directors from multiple local businesses who started the organisation to keep the local economy afloat. They clean the areas that affect not only them, but also their customers greatly.
“The LCUC functions solely off donations, so we rely heavily on community support,” stated Kasselman.
The LCUC has several pieces of equipment to help them take care of minor issues all over town. They own a tractor and trailer, which they use to collect refuse from paying households; bush cutters, which they regularly use to clear heavily wooded areas and equipment for pothole repairs.

The LCUC is working in several areas of town, picking up refuse where needed, collecting household waste and repairing roads. Their latest work includes pothole patching in Caledon Street. According to Kasselman, Highveld Milling donated the tar for this project.
“Our work continues as we receive donations,” explained Kasselman.
The repairs in Caledon Street have been ongoing for several weeks, and work continues as donations of tar continue to pour in from the community.
The LCUC is open to donations and sponsorships for new equipment to expand its capabilities.
