Remote-controlled plane enthusiasts show their skills at annual fly-in

Members from several other clubs came to join in the activities at the annual TRMC Fly-in.

TRICHARDT- The Teksa Radio Control Model Club (TRMC) hosted their annual fly-in event at their airstrip at Trichardt on Saturday, 7 March.

According to Mr Johan van Vuuren, chairman of the club, members from several other clubs came to join in the activities.

He said about 50 remote-controlled planes took the air that day. These included biplanes, jets that operate like the real thing and several others.

Mr Johan van Vuuren (Chariman of TRMC) won the prize for the best Warbird Category with his P38 lightning airplane.

The club handed out prizes in various fun categories, such as the best crash of the day, and the best jet, best show pilot and the oldest and youngest pilot.

The TRMC members meet quite often to practice, learn and teach.

It could be quite an expensive sport, ranging form a R2 500 second-hand beginner’s remote control airplane up until a R50 000 out-of-the-box professional remote control airplane.

Anyone interested in joining the TRMC, can contact Mr Van Vuuren at 064 780 4036 or follow the club on Facebook for more details.
