Dancers can now enter Julie-Ann School of Dance’s online competition

HIGHVELD- The Julie-Ann School of Dance (JSD), Online Dance Competition has a cut off date of 15 July.

The Judging will take place from 17 to 19 July by their chosen judge.

When entering the competition, each student will send a mobile video via WhatsApp to 0788411485.

“No video sent later than 15 July will be accepted into the competition,” said Ms Julie-Ann Maudlin.

Upon entering, the competitors are required to send the video with their name, surname, age and the style of the dance featured in the video.

The competition will consist of only solo dances for the competition.

There is no limit to the number of solo dances a contestant may enter.

The entry fee is R240 per solo with a payment date no later than 12 July.

The different style-categories of dance videos you can enter into the competition is freestyle, acrobatics, modern, disco, hip-hop, ballet, open, Latin, tap, energy and lyrical.

The videos will be sent through for judging and JSD will receive feedback. The judges will be judging in an Age and Style Category, for instance 3-6 Year Freestyle, 10-12 Year Hip-Hop, 7-9 Year Acrobatics.

“Each Student will receive an online certificate via WhatsApp or email,” said Ms Maudlin.

First, second and third place winners in each category will be announced via WhatsApp or email.

Each dancer will receive a participation trophy.

There will be trophies for winners with the highest scores, Best Freestyle Winner 2020, Best Costume 2020, Best Hip Hop Winner 2020, Most Promising Dancer, Best Acrobatics Winner 2020, Overall Impression, Best Technique Dancer 2020, Most Stylish Dancer and Best Personality 2020.

The requirements of the dance or video should not be more than 2:30 minutes. Children must dress up nicely.

“These requirements is not a must, but it would be fun if they did it to fall in for the trophy prizes.” said Ms Maudlin.
