Road safety awareness campaign held

Prayers for safe travels during the festive season

With the holiday season around the corner, the Greater Metro Learner Transport Association (GMLTA) hosted a road safety awareness campaign.

The event took the form of a prayer meeting, and was held at the Horizon View Primary School Park.

“The purpose of the event was to create awareness of safety to the public, learners and transport operators, and to pray for safety on our roads during the festive season.

The message of support was given by different pastors in the community, including Pastor Freddy Myeza and Pastor Ralph from Rainbow FM,” said Priscilla Makgobe from GMLTA.

Pastor Freddy Myeza also attended the event.

The event was attended by various scholar transport companies, including Siyazifukula Learner Transport Association, as well as representatives from the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RPMC), Road Traffic Infringement Agency (RTIA), Road Accident Fund (RAF), Transnet and the police.

The Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Transport, councillor Nonhlanhla Makhubo also attended the event, and delivered a keynote address to the attendees.

The day’s activities were concluded with a prayer chain, performed by the various pastors.
