Roodepoort residents supported the monthly clean-up
'I am glad to see the positive reaction from residents'
The councillor for Ward 84, Gert Niemand, hosted yet another successful monthly clean-up recently. The clean-up took place at the Hamberg Dam, and he was not only joined by approximately 30 residents, but four of his fellow councillors as well.
“I believe the day was a huge success, and am glad to see the positive reaction from residents pertaining to the campaign. The clean-ups take place every third Saturday of the month, and I would like to encourage residents to also identify areas that need cleaning. The City will provide support in the form of bags, gloves and removing the collected waste afterwards,” Gert said.
He concluded by thanking the residents, City of Johannesburg staff, members of the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department as well as councillors Caleb Finn (Ward 70), René Benjamin (Ward 71) and Amelia Bester (Ward 89).
“Keeping our environment clean must be a collective effort,” he said.
