Three houses burgled within one hour around Witpoorttjie and Lindhaven

'They break the front door, take jewellery, TVs and flee. Quickly in and out.'

Three houses around Witpoortjie and Lindhaven were victims of a smash-and-grab raid by a small group of men on February 2.

Houses on Trezona Avenue, Lichtenstein Street and Graniet Street were all struck by what is believed to be the same group of men as all the incidents followed the same pattern, and witness reports match the description of the vehicle they were travelling in.

Around 11:00 the three men ransacked a house on Trezona Avenue before moving on to a house on Lichtenstein Street. There, a gardener noticed the men leave at roughly 11:30, with the incident on Graniet Street reported at roughly 12:00. The men are alleged to have been travelling in a dark bluish-grey Audi hatchback, and in the space of an hour, covered roughly 8km between their targets.

Fortunately, nobody was injured in the burglaries as none of the residents were home. Roodepoort Police have yet to confirm that cases were opened but Frik van Zyl from West Suburbs Roodepoort Neighbourhood Watch elaborated. “Yes, it looks like it as the description of the vehicle at all three incidents is the same. We only have the footage of the last one on Graniet Street but the modus operandi is the same at all three. They break the front door, take jewellery, TVs and flee. Quickly in and out,” said Van Zyl, responding to whether he felt the housebreakers were the same ones in all three incidents.

Should anyone have any information on the vehicle or suspects they asked to contact Roodepoort Police as soon as possible.
