Breaking News: 6 arrested in Luke Fleurs shooting and hijacking

Police arrest six suspects for the alleged murder and hijacking of Kaizer Chiefs defender Luke Fleurs.

Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant Tommy Mthombeni appointed a team to investigate the tragic murder of Kaizer Chiefs defender Luke Fleurs.

The 24-year-old was shot and killed in a hijacking at a petrol service station on Wednesday, April 3.

Fleurs was shot once in the upper body and his red VW Golf 8 GTI was hijacked while Fleurs was waiting to be served at a petrol station in Constantia Kloof.

In the early hours of this morning, April 10, the team made a breakthrough by arresting six suspects. Police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo says the suspects were traced and arrested in Slovoville, Soweto, while the vehicle that was already stripped was recovered on Monday, April 8.

“The police believe that the suspects are part of a syndicate that is responsible for car hijacking in Gauteng, and the search for more suspects is continuing,” Masondo says.

The suspects are expected to appear at the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Friday, April 12.
