Scammers are once again cheating Florida residents out of their hard-earned cash.
Lieutenant Colonel Sipho Dlamini confirms that the Florida police are concerned about a surge in scams targeting those seeking love on the various dating apps.
“While scammers are ever-present and dreaming up all sorts of schemes to get their hands on your money, we have seen a rise in people being targeted via dating apps and platforms.
“We urge people not to arrange dates online or via dating apps with people they don’t know,” he says.
“Ruthless scammers are using these sites to attract people. They then either scam them out of all their money. In some cases, they would kidnap and even murder the unsuspecting victims.
“If you do end up arranging a date via an app or dating site, make sure you have family members and friends who know where you are going and with whom.
“It could be the difference between life and death.”
