Intensive manhunt results in arrest of child rape suspect

A suspect was apprehended by a security company for the alleged rape of a three-year-old in Muldersdrift, with police confirming charges will follow.

Following the manhunt for the alleged rapist of a three-year-old, a local security company apprehended the suspect on September 9.

Director of Guardmax Protection Services, Jan Venter, stated the suspect allegedly raped the child sometime over the past weekend in the Muldersdrift area.

“Our team worked around the clock in search of the suspect, following every lead and leaving no stone unturned,” he continued.

At about 21:30 on Tuesday, September 9, they received information about his whereabouts and responded to the lead.

“We apprehended him near the Zandspruit area and he was handed over to the police,” Venter added.

Gauteng Provincial Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, also confirmed the arrest.

“The suspect will be charged with rape and taken to court in due course. More charges might be added pending further investigation,” Masondo told the News.
