Four arrested after attempted cable theft along Beyers Naudé Drive

Their attempts to run from the law failed when additional teams arrived during the search, leading to being arrested.

Four people linked to cable theft were arrested by members of the Honeydew police in the early hours of Monday, February 23.

According to the incident report provided by the Honeydew CPF, officers were conducting a morning patrol when they noticed individuals digging for cables along Beyers Naudé Drive.

They approached the scene and arrested one person, while the remaining three fled into a nearby veld. Tools and cables were recovered at the scene.

After a security officer reported suspicious activity in the area, a team from SB Security also arrived and assisted police in cordoning off the area where the individuals had fled.

Additional Honeydew police units joined the search, and shortly afterwards, the three individuals were located and arrested on charges of cable theft.
