The officer was wounded in the early hours of March 6 when he responded to a reported house robbery in Strubens Valley. Upon arrival at the scene, he encountered four gunmen. During the confrontation, the robbers opened fire, striking the officer before fleeing.
“Emergency medical assistance was immediately arranged, and the officer was transported to the hospital, where he received treatment for his injuries,” said MGN Security’s marketing office, Thato Maloma.
Maloma told the Roodepoort Northsider the officer is recovering well and remains in good spirits. He will continue to recuperate at home while attending follow-up medical appointments over the coming weeks.
The gunmen fled the scene and remains at large. Authorities, including the police, have launched an investigation into the incident, but no arrests have been made at this stage.
Multiple response teams, including Beagle Watch and local law enforcement, also assisted at the scene. MGN Security expressed gratitude to all emergency responders and community members who offered support.
“We look forward to welcoming him back to duty once he has fully recovered,” Maloma concluded.
