Revamped and Ready: Roodepoort/Krugersdorp SPCA Charity Shop welcomes shoppers!

A fresh new look, the same great cause — shop, donate, and help change the lives of animals at the revamped SPCA charity shop.

The Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA charity shop has undergone a massive revamp and is still open for business.

For many years, the shop has been an important part of the shelter’s continued existence, but unfortunately, interest and support have dwindled in the past few years. In an effort to rectify that, the shop has been revamped and is now ready to welcome new shoppers.

According to Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA Manager Mandy Cattanach, the shop is now being managed by a new volunteer, Simone Williams, who has neatly packed everything to make the visitor’s experience more positive.

“The shop sells a wide range of second-hand items, including furniture, clothes, books, toys, blankets, cutlery, plants, and even artwork. Simone has picked up all the clothing and arranged it in containers or hung it on rails. The different goods we have for sale have also been neatly packed onto the shelves, and there is ample space to walk between them and browse,” she said.

She added by shopping at the shop, customers will be helping to support and feed animals at the SPCA.

“The items we sell at the charity shop help us to generate some extra income, which is then used to help care for the animals, as well as for day-to-day maintenance at the SPCA. Every purchase made, whether big or small, makes a huge difference in the lives of our animals.

“We are also appealing to the community to help us by donating their unwanted or unused items, which can be anything from kettles, pots, pans, irons, plates, and any kitchen items; ornaments, picture frames, furniture, and carpets; clothing and bedding; to garden items, lawnmowers, weed eaters, and books.

“Instead of dumping your old and unwanted furniture, we encourage the community to donate to us, as it could change the lives of our animals,” she added.

Mandy explained if community members are unable to drop their donation at their premises, they also collect.
