The Pinnacle College Ridge View Primary community came together to support families in need by collecting and donating Jars of Hope as part of its Nelson Mandela Day initiative on Saturday, July 18.

In partnership with LBC Professional Services, learners, parents and staff collected jars filled with the dry ingredients needed to make soup. Each jar contains enough ingredients to prepare about three litres of nourishing soup.

According to the school’s head of marketing and admissions, Joanita Boshoff, the jars were donated to the Fred and Martie Soup Kitchen in Claremont, where they will help provide warm meals to about 150 families during the winter season.

While learners were enjoying their winter break, the team from LBC Professional Services distributed the jars, ensuring every donation reached families in need.

Boshoff also added that the initiative demonstrated how a simple act of kindness can make a meaningful difference.

“Our Jars of Hope initiative is a reminder that even the smallest act of kindness can make a meaningful difference. The generosity shown by our learners, parents and staff made it possible to provide warm meals to families this winter,” she said.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed and to LBC Professional Services for helping ensure the donations reached those who needed them most,” Joanita added.

According to Joanita, the success of the campaign reflects the school’s commitment to giving back and supporting vulnerable families during the colder months while showing learners the value of compassion and community service.
