Leaving your house has always been quite simple. If you had you car keys and wallet/ purse, you were good to go.
But, since March this year, things have changed quite dramatically, as the global Covid-19 pandemic became a harsh reality.
I am sure that I have clocked the majority of my daily steps on my Fitbit by turning around from where I was going to going back the way I came to retrieve 2020’s most forgotten item, while usually muttering a myriad of profanities under my breath.
If you have guessed that the item is my mask, then you would be correct, but, you would be incorrect (but forgiven) if you thought that it was because I am a superhero, even though I have been known to utter the following, “Oh no, I forgot my mask! You would swear I was Batman or something!”
Yes, you might think that, after almost six months of having to wear a face mask when venturing outside, it should be second nature to me, but, to be honest, I have a real love-hate relationship with this fashion accessory, and, after the President’s last address to the nation, confirming that we will be allowed to return to the gym, I have had quite a few sleepless nights and anxiety-filled days.
Why, you may ask, and the answer is simple – now I have to find a mask that will not only help protect me and my fellow gym patrons, but one that will also allow me to keep breathing while exercising (and not faint halfway through the class).
So, for the past week or so, I have been researching the different masks available on the market like a seasoned FBI agent, reading through reviews and recording the information on spreadsheets to compare them in order to assist me with my difficult decision.
After all of this, there was one clear winner among the millions of sport masks on the market, and I decided to close my eyes and order them.
So, hopefully this mask will be the correct choice, and, if I am lucky, it will also help me feel like a superhero (and maybe look like one too?) while training.
Until next week, stay safe and look out for each other …
