Nora Ephron said, “When you have teenagers, it’s important to have a dog in the house so that someone is happy to see you”. And, as a mother of teens, I fully agree.
I believe that there is nothing better than seeing your dog’s happiness when you return home after a long day at work. That tail wagging, butt-jiggling jump-for-joy dance they do when they see you, speaks of pure love. And, no matter how hard your day was, or how tired you are, you cannot help but respond to this display of affection, by showering them with some love and attention.
Despite dogs filling your life with love, loyalty, fur and lots of laughter, there are plenty of other reasons why dogs are awesome and, according to www.care.com, these are some of them:
• They’ll greet you like you’ve been gone a century when you only went out for a five-minute trip to the store.
• They keep your bed warm for you when it gets cold at night.
• They will watch television with you without hogging the remote.
• They find the greatest joy in even the simplest of things, like a ride in the car.
• They know how to take awesome selfies.
• They will inspire you to stop and sniff the flowers.
• They make the best workout partners, and will motivate you to get up and get moving, but won’t make you feel guilty when you just want to crash on the couch.
• They are willing to put aside their differences and live in peace, even with their natural-born enemies (in this case, cats).
• They love to snuggle and they’re the best at it.
• They always seem to know when you’re feeling blue – and they’ll gladly share their favourite toy to cheer you up.
• They know how to make a big splash and have some amazing athletic skills.
• They can help you socialise and encourage you to get out and explore.
• When you own a dog, you will have something to laugh and smile about every day.
• Whether you’re roughing it or enjoying a plush hotel, dogs make great travel companions.
• Slobbery dog kisses are actually awesome.
• Every day is an adventure when you share your life with a dog.
