I wish to make the community aware of a possible baiting scheme I experienced on Saturday morning at about 10.45am.
Although I cannot confirm this for sure, I do believe that the kitten that was on the road was possibly put there as bait. This occurred in Zandspruit near the Peter Road traffic lights towards Beyers Naudé Drive, while I was travelling towards Honeydew.
I saw the kitten crawling across the road, nearly being hit by cars. I reacted immediately and stopped my car in the middle of the road to retrieve the kitten before it got run over. I was aware of two men calling for my attention; I was very wary of my situation and jumped back into my car with the kitten – realising later I had left the car running, car door wide open and my handbag in the back. So easily, things could have turned out pretty badly. Fortunately for me, a TRSS vehicle pulled up behind me with his hazards on.
I’d like to thank the man in the TRSS vehicle that stopped behind me as I am sure that it is for that reason I managed to drive off safely without incident.
I wish to make the community aware of this possible baiting scheme to stop cars on Beyers Naudé Drive next to Zandspruit. In hindsight, it was foolish of me to stop there and yet, I would likely stop there again for an animal crossing a road, terrified in the traffic.
