Ruimsig football development eyes global recognition

Currently 49 children are part of the programme, which is aimed at providing the very best learning development platform for boys and girls between the ages of four and 18.

Football Fitness Factory Development (FFFD) is a youth development soccer programme based in Ruimsig that was established in 2020 to focus on football coaching, fitness training and overall health.

Currently 49 children are part of the programme, which is aimed at providing the very best learning development platform for boys and girls between the ages of four and 18.

According to coach Tumi Mothibi, they strongly believe that all athletes who have the potential and are hardworking can rise above their challenges.

“We aim to develop and nurture the talent to ensure a high level of performance and development results,” said Tumi.

Tumi started developing the athletes because of his passion for football and sports in general.

“I’m born to do this, I’m born to change kids’ lives through football. I have been involved in sports since Grade 7, and I have been coaching soccer for eight years now,” explained Tumi.

FFFD is not registered in any leagues yet, and according to Tumi, this is because the school is still new and they don’t have sufficient numbers to compete in leagues; however, competing in leagues is part of their future plan.

The main vision is to get FFFD recognised by communities, schools and South African professional clubs, on the African continent and globally.

“I am currently facing facility challenges as we are not allowed to host games at our venue. We have limited days a week so that becomes a challenge because some of the players and parents have other commitments, meaning other boys can’t join the soccer school.

“Things will be very beneficial if we train at a venue for seven days a week because that will give parents and players alternative options when selecting the days that suit them.

“We are currently operating three times a week at Ruimsig Stadium, and twice a week at Ruimsig Country Estate.

“I would like the community to help us with a permanent and safe facility, with security for parents and players,” said Tumi.

In the next three years the inspired coach would like to see FFFD operating in primary and high schools, competing in development leagues, and developing players for academies and football clubs in South Africa, the African continent and globally.
