Non-professional soccer league matches to resume
SAFA appealed to all the clubs involved in competitions to observe the health and safety protocol procedures.
Following the correspondence that was sent to Regions and Provincial Executive Officers on July 20 with regards to the resumption of non-professional football including training, the South African Football Association (SAFA) has given a positive update.
On Wednesday, August 3 SAFA announced that non-professional football league matches would resume effectively from Saturday, August 7.
While making the call, SAFA appealed to all the clubs involved in competitions to observe the health and safety protocol procedures circulated by the Chief Medical Officer of the Association, Advocate Tebogo Montlanthe.
West Rand soccer clubs commented on the latest develops from SAFA as follows:

“As Roodepoort College Masters, we are excited and very happy after the positive announcement from the mother body.
“After a long period of inactivity it’s good to get the go-ahead to start preparing and planning for the league.”

“As the Zandspruit Local Football Association we welcome the return of amateur football in our communities because it was a long time waiting.
“We’re looking forward to slowing down the spread of the virus by making it a point that all teams comply with the directives we received from SAFA.
“Football always lives in our lives, and the kids can’t wait to get back. As Zandspruit we’re going to have a mid-season workshop with all teams and captains on Saturday, August 15 at Emthonjeni to make sure that teams are well educated once football has resumed.
“The workshop will start at 09:00 until 14:00, and due to Covid regulations only club coaches and captains are invited to attend this event.”
