24Seven Gymnastics graduate four athletes to national level

National colours the cherry on top of outstanding August results

The art of producing stars starts with a vision and uses talent, patience and experience to deliver each brush stroke.

An established powerhouse of the gymnastics world, Luitha Roux has guided her athletes to the pinnacle of the sport in the country. Outstanding results in two recent competitions have seen 24Seven Trampoline and Gymnastics cement their name as one the premier clubs in the province.

At the Central Gauteng Gymnastics Association Championships on the weekend of August 14, 24Seven earned 50 medals across multiple age groups. This gave them a perfect springboard going into the Gauteng Trampoline Championships at the end of August, where they climbed the podium another 42 times. “Thank you to everybody. I am incredibly proud of them; they have worked so hard,” said Luitha.

Not content with just setting the standard across the province, 24Seven Gymnastics can also boast to house four of the country’s elite trampolining athletes. Riku Immelman, Ivan Dippenaar and brothers Jean-Claude and Jean-Pierre Roux where awarded their South African colours and are now part of a specialist high-performance group. Leadership and guidance can not be denied, as Luitha herself as well as fellow coach Hein Swanepoel have made the national training programme cut.

The best athletes require the best facilities and the gymnastic visionary is currently in the process of securing a deal to build a world-class training facility in the heart of Witpoortjie. With the site already identified, the new facility will be built to international standards, and Luitha will hope to create a multi-sport mecca that can propel athletes to the international stage.

Already doing a stellar job on a shoe-string budget, the potential to climb to new heights has never been more real. “The gym has a great atmosphere, everyone works so hard and the joys of overcoming obstacles together are amazing,” she aid.

Sticking to the plan with dedication and perseverance, the greater picture gradually becomes one of brilliance.
