Roodebeeck majorette team to make their way to France
A local majorette team paves their way to an international competition.
After dominating various local and regional competitions in the world of drum majorette sport, the Laerskool Roodebeck learners that made the South African team have cemented their way to the world championships set to take place in France in July.
This is a remarkable and well-deserved milestone for the team, and 21 out of 61 Roodebeeck Majorettes (juniors) and Roodenations (seniors) made the SA team and were selected to represent the country at the International Association Majorette (IAM) Competition.

The team, made up of young, talented individuals who excel at what they do, will also participate in the Federation of Dance Drill Cheerleading Majorettes Sport National Championships, set to take place from June 28 to July 4 in Pretoria.
Made out of various categories like pom dance, baton, mace, flag, drum, and cheerleading, among others, the championship is recognised by the IAM.

According to Sonja Bezuidenhout, head coach for the team, they have been training rigorously and tirelessly, perfecting their skills and routine in preparation for the competition.
However, the cost of travelling to France and competing is significant, and these passionate young majorettes still need financial support to cover expenses such as travel, accommodation, and competition fees.

“On May 25, we are also hosting a family carnival at Roodebeeck Primary School that will raise funds for the team so that they can make their way to France. We would like anyone who would like to be part of it to come forward and buy tickets at Quicket,” Sonja said.
The community is encouraged to support and make donations to make the dreams of these young boys and girls come true. For more information, contact Sonja on 068 617 6987 or WhatsApp at 067 706 6917.
