Youthful enthusiasm takes to the water at Florida Lake
Florida Canoe Club hosted a canoeing experience for families and school children.
Families and primary school children under 10 recently gathered at Florida Lake for an introductory canoeing experience and picnic. The warm spring day provided the perfect setting for an enjoyable and memorable outing.
Under the watchful eyes of experienced coaches and adult canoeists, the young enthusiasts learned the basics of paddling. For safety, only children who knew how to swim were allowed to participate. However, arrangements were made for others to enjoy a ride in the larger boat.

Dallas El-Hage, a seasoned paddler from the club, shared his passion with his nine-year-old daughter, Luna.
Together, they took her school friends on boat rides, fostering confidence and teamwork. Luna’s friend Zoey joined her in a stable yellow two-seater boat, while Bailey Sams, another young enthusiast, also enjoyed sharing her love for paddling with friends.
During the session, a young boy taking lessons in a racing K1 Guppie tipped over into the cold water. One of the coaches called upon Luna and Bailey to assist, leveraging their stable boats. The boy climbed aboard, and they paddled him safely to shore, achieving an impressive ‘rescue’ in their introductory session.

According to Jennie Dallas, media Liaison of the club, the young paddlers had an absolute blast, rapidly developing their steering abilities and comfortably navigating to and from the shore.
Quintin Scott, an angling member and maintenance volunteer, also supported these young paddlers.
