Cluster C’s battle for the best on the athletics field

Local schools go head-to-head in Cluster C Athletics Day at Ruimsig Stadium.

The Cluster C Athletics Day brought together schools in the Region C vicinity for a fun-filled and action-packed morning of competition at the Ruimsig Stadium on February 11.

According to the organisers, the event saw young athletes from various schools gather to compete against one another and strive for excellence in a range of track and field events.

The events ranged from long-distance, 100m sprints, high jump, long jump, and shot put, providing a comprehensive perception of the athlete’s abilities. The atmosphere was electric, with learners showing their best skills and aiming for number one while being cheered on by their fellow school peers from the stands.

Throughout the day the learners demonstrated remarkable dedication, perseverance, and sportsmanship. Many recorded personal bests, while others showed tremendous potential for future growth and development.

The athletes who have secured the top three positions were awarded medals and are selected to represent their schools at the upcoming Roodepoort Championships set to take place today, February 14, at Hoërskool Florida.

As the young athletes now look forward to the upcoming championships, they can take pride in their achievements and the progress they have made. Win or lose, the true value of such events lies in the opportunities they provide to challenge future athletes.
