Local gymnasts to trial for world champs
JP and JC Roux from 24 Seven Gymnastics and Trampoline are geared for trials set to take place in Pretoria.
Witpoortjie — Two talented gymnasts from 24 Seven Gymnastics and Trampoline, JC and JP Roux, are gearing up for the biggest challenge of their careers as they prepare to trial for the South African team that will participate in the World Championships set to take place on November 6 in Spain.
The trials will be held on May 2 at Groenkloof in Pretoria, where JC and JP will compete in the Euro Trampoline and Double Mini Trampoline categories for seniors.
This will be JC’s fourth time heading to the World Championships, while JP, despite being a junior, will be trialling for a spot in the senior team for the third time.

“We are ready and nervous at the same time, but hopefully, we will make the team again,” said JP.
With only four spots available for each category, the competition will be fierce, but both JC and JP are determined to secure at least one spot.
The World Championships will feature 54 teams from around the globe, including powerhouses like the USA, Portugal, Australia, Japan, and Russia.
However, the Roux brothers are confident in their abilities, thanks to rigorous training and preparation under the guidance of their coach and mother, Luitha Roux.

“They’ve done this before, and they can certainly do it again,” she said.
“My job is to make sure they are prepared mentally and physically.
“Mentally is more important because you sometimes find that people get anxiety, and they end up not doing well.”
As coaches for trampoline, with JC also serving as a judge, the brothers have a deep understanding of the sport and the level of competition they will face.
