Welties triumph at sports day

The festival was more than just a sports day; it was a joyful celebration of teamwork, talent, and community spirit.

The grounds at Weltevreden Park Primary School (Welties) came alive with action as the school hosted its annual sports day on Saturday, May 10.

Parents, teachers, learners, and community members filled the school grounds in support of the players.

The soccer and netball teams went head-to-head in heated competitions as they battled it out for the ultimate prize of being crowned the champions.

During the first half of the day, winners were announced, and the Welties soccer team’s faces were filled with worry as they thought they had lost. To their surprise, they were announced as the top winners and received medals along with their competitors.

The highlight of the day was when the Welties teams took home the overall sports day trophy and top honours for both soccer and netball. The music kept attendees entertained as it created an electric atmosphere for the guests, allowing them to relax and enjoy being a part of the festival.

Aside from the friendly sports matches, food stalls selling a variety of snacks for people to nibble on adorned the school grounds. There was also a book stall and competition held inside the school’s hall where participants could spin the wheel and stand a chance to win different prizes.
