Parkrun pulls the crowds

Roodepoort parkrun remains one of the most popular sporting events on the local calendar.

Roodepoort parkrun continues to pull massive crowds with 367 registered runners taking to the course on a freezing Saturda, June 14.

Nkosinathi Jacob Dlamini, in just his 13th parkrun, took a comfortable first place in 18:18, nearly two minutes ahead of Obert Hlahla, running under the banner of G Nkomazi Athletics Club, who clinched second place in 20:29.

Munyaradzi Hloyo completed the top three in a time of 20:51, followed by first-timer Afrihost FitClub runner Sicelo Gwabedi in fourth with 21:17, and Charlie Strydom in fifth in 22:43.

Maryna Bijker once again crossed the line first in the women’s category, taking sixth place in a time of 23:21.

As always, a number of runners achieved significant milestone in their parkrun journey.

In addition to a large number of first-time runners, Cheslin Paul and Vicky van Niekerk each completed their 10th parkruns.

Gareth Gordon-Davis and Harry Bell ran their 25th parkruns, while Kgeme Lekganyane, Alpheus Ngoako Makhudu, Angela Mullins, and Nadia de Lange each finished their 50th runs.
