(park)Runners aren’t scared of the cold
Ruimsig parkrun proves its popularity despite biting cold weather conditions.
The ever-popular Ruimsig parkrun proved that one needs more than a bit of ice in the wind to scare off a runner.

This past weekend’s run sported a healthy 318 registered runners, 35 of whom were first-timers braving the cold to join the ranks of one of the fastest-growing movements in the country.
Keegan Coetzee took the win by a hair with 19:00, just ahead of Ethan Botha, who did it in 19:01.

Third place was occupied by an unregistered runner, and the time, therefore not recorded – something that very rarely happens.
The top five was rounded out by Joshua Madden and Rueben Swart in times of 20:25 and 20:39, respectively.

The first woman, Milan Botha, finished the race in eighth place in a time of 21.25, followed by Stacey Hamman in 13th place with 23:37.
As always, parkrun featured runners who have reached milestones in their parkrun journey. This week was the turn of Paul Shari, who managed his 25th parkrun, and Lisa Kruger, who finished her 50th.
