A Grade 11 learner at St Stithians Boys’ College and resident of Ruimsig Country Estate is making waves in the tennis world.

Connor Miller (16) has shown exceptional dedication to the sport, earning a place on the prestigious South African Schools Tennis Team, which will tour England later this year.

Connor has attended St Stithians on a tennis scholarship since 2023 and is known for his strong work ethic and discipline. As the number one player on the Gauteng Central Under-19 Tennis Team, he played a key role in the team’s victory at the Interprovincial Tournament held in Pretoria from January 7 to 11.

The team competed against leading sides from KwaZulu-Natal, the Eastern Cape and the Western Cape.

Gauteng Central emerged as champions, a result that reinforced the team’s dominance in South African youth tennis.

Connor delivered an outstanding performance during the tournament, winning four of his five matches. His efforts earned him selection for the Under-17 South African Schools Tennis Team.

This achievement is particularly impressive given his young age and reflects his rapid progress in the sport.

The team will travel to England at the end of June to compete internationally, marking a significant milestone in Connor’s growing tennis career.

Connor expressed gratitude for the support he has received from his school, coaches and family. He said the many hours of training at St Stithians and the VHS Tennis Academy have paid off and have helped him stay on the right path.

His commitment to training is evident in his demanding schedule. He trains intensively at the VHS Tennis Academy, where his talent is developed under expert guidance. His determination and strong work ethic have set him apart as one of South Africa’s most promising young tennis players.

Connor’s success reflects not only his ability but also the strong support system around him. From his coaches at St Stithians to the staff at the VHS Tennis Academy and his family, many have contributed to his development.

As he prepares for his international debut in June, Connor’s journey is one to watch. With his sights set on greater achievements, he is well positioned to become a key figure in South African tennis in the years ahead.
