SHARPEVILLE. – “We have shown you the sellers of Nyaope, arrest them!” These are the words of distressed mothers, who are desperate for Police assistance.
A group of women from Shehe street, Putswa Stena today held a meeting regarding a problematic house, where an older woman with her sons is said to be selling Nyaope.
The group said they are fed up as they have alerted the police regarding the matter and even called the police to come and search a car belonging to the family where nyaope was discovered.
“We feel like the police are failing us, we have given them information time and time again but the perpetrators are not being arrested. Even if they do get arrested, we always see them back on the streets in no time.”
The group of mothers whose kids have fallen victim to the drug say that they are now calling for action against the perpetrators, adding that they want the family removed as they are doing nothing but ruining the bright futures of their children.
The women further said they would engage the Sharpeville Police Station commander Colonel Caesar Mbali. Police spokesperson Captain Attie Loate was not available for comment. An update will be given as soon as he has given Sedibeng Ster a comment regarding this matter.
