A man was fortunate to escape serious injury this morning after his light motor vehicle collided with seven cows on the R501 in Carletonville.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene just after 09h30 and found the wrecked light motor vehicle parked on the side of the road. The entire front section, as well as the roof, had sustained a large amount of damage in the collision.

On assessment, paramedics found that the male driver had fortunately escaped without injury.

On further inspection, paramedics discovered several cows lying for some distance along the road. Unfortunately, some of the cattle succumbed to their injuries.

A local SPCA was on scene to assist in treating the cattle.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
