
Molemisi’s sentencing came after his arrest by the police in Mogwase on May 12, 2014. On 01 April 2014, the 30-year-old victim was walking from a party accompanied by her boyfriend when two suspects approached them.
One of the suspects assaulted her boyfriend, forcing him to run away. The girlfriend was assaulted when she tried to run away and she collapsed. The accused took her to the bushes where he threatened her with a knife and raped her.
The victim managed to report the matter to the police who traced and arrested the suspect. It was later established that the accused was previously convicted of three counts of rape and served eight years imprisonment prior to this incident.
The Provincial Commissioner of North West Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane welcomed the sentence. She said the sentence will send a message to rapists out there that no stone will be left unturned to ensure that perpetrators are brought to book.
