ER24 Spokespesron Russel Meiring reports that a 37-year-old man was killed last night when he was knocked over by a light motor vehicle on the R54 Villiers Road in the Vaal Marina area.

“When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene, they found the body of a man lying 20 metres off into the veld.Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained serious injuries to his head and legs and showed no signs of life.”

According to Meiring, the man had already succumbed to his injuries and nothing could be done for him.  The light motor vehicle that had hit the man was found parked approximately 1km away. The driver fortunately escaped injury.

Local authorities were on the scene to investigate further.
