A man, believed to be in his 40s, was killed this morning when his light motor vehicle rear-ended a truck on the N1 South-bound before the John Voster turnoff in Centurion.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at approximately 04:00 this morning. Upon inspection, paramedics found the truck parked in the emergency lane while the light motor vehicle was found in the fast lane of the highway. Paramedics found the body of a man, believed to be in his 40s, lying trapped inside the vehicle. Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to his multiple, fatal injuries. Nothing more could be done for him and he was declared dead on the scene.
The driver of the truck was assessed and found to have escaped injury. The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations. (Russel Meiring ER24 Spokesperson.)
