“Please do the humane thing and give us back our water!”

Emfuleni’s Ward 5 Committee writes an open letter to the Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Operating Officer of Rand Water to state residents' case

Emfuleni’s Ward 5 Committee in Vanderbijlpark  writes an open letter on behalf of residents to the Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Operating Officer of
Rand Water in Glenvista:

Good Day Mr  Sechemane and Mr Mosai

We write to you to bring to your attention the damage and health issues being caused by the reduction in water supply to the Emfuleni Residents – initiated by Rand Water. We represent Ward 5, so specifically mention our Ward, however the whole of Emfuleni is now being affected.

Some old, wheelchair bound or unwell residents do not have the option of being able to just jump in their cars or go and walk to the nearest spaza or shop to go and buy water.  When the water dries up in their houses this means they no longer have access to water.  This is now a serious health and safety situation.   They literally have no access to water and in some cases they have no other means of getting water since they do not have family or friends to assist them in supplying them with water.  Lives could be lost.  This is also in the middle of summer where the human requires more water per day in order to survive.

We please ask you to do the humane thing and rectify the situation urgently. If lives are lost, there is sure to be an investigation as to the cause thereof and the responsible people.
