26-year-old man nabbed for kidnapping in Vanderbijlpark

The suspect has been arrested and is being charged with kidnapping. The Station Commander Brigadier Nikiwe Hoaeane applauded the good work done by the members, adding that the success shows that Vanderbijlpark SAPS members don’t tolerate crime and stand against Human Trafficking and Gender Based Violence.

VANDERBIJLPARK. – The swift reaction of the Vanderbijlpark police Task Team managed to dissolve a kidnapping that occurred yesterday morning in the Vanderbijlpark CBD.

It is reported that a female victim was on her way to work when the incident happened. Police Spokesperson Sergeant Gertrude Makhale says, “It is alleged that the suspect approached the victim and took her phone, when the victim fought back he pulled her inside the car and subsequently drove off with the victim with the door of the car still open.

“Patrolling Task Team members saw a lady screaming and hooting for help.  Members then gave chase to the car which was being driven on high speed. A Shootout ensued and members managed to shoot the tyres of the vehicle belonging to the suspect. The car stopped immediately after that.”
