Social Development MEC engages young people in Sedibeng

Mosupyoe handed over 12 certificates to local Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs) that make a major contribution to young people through various skills development as part of the department’s acknowledgement to the good work of those organizations.

SEDIBENG.- Gauteng Social Development MEC Morakane Mosupyoe engaged with the young people of Evaton West, at the Holistic Ministry Church in Sedibeng recently. In these engagements she tackled challenges that confront them daily and gave them a message of hope as young people are faced with a multitude of social ills.

The MEC made a passionate appeal to all sectors of society to join hands in helping to address serious challenges of unemployment faced by young people. She said it was frightening that many young people ended up falling into drugs and alcohol abuse. Mosupyoe emphasized that young people are faced by countless social ills and struggle to handle the pressure and the pain that comes with being unemployed. She said the department is working tirelessly to stem the tide of unemployment by ensuring that many young people were enrolled into different skills development centres to empower themselves.

Mosupyoe handed over 12 certificates to local Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs) that make a major contribution to young people through various skills development as part of the department’s acknowledgement to the good work of those organizations. MEC applauded all the NPOs and said they must continue to partner and help government to reach out to the scores of young people who have lost hope.

“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the organizations that would be receiving certificates here today and I want say to them as government of Gauteng we really appreciate and acknowledge the good work that you are doing for the betterment of this community, especially for the young people”, she added.
