Mamelodi Sundowns shock Al Ahly

It was a South African affair with Pitso Mosimane on the Ahly bench against his former colleagues.

SEDIBENG.- Mamelodi Sundowns shocked Al Ahly when they beat Egyptian giants 1-0 in a CAF Champions League Group A at Cairo International Stadium on Saturday night.

No one expected Sundowns to come with the three points away from home after substitute Thapelo Morena scored a late goal for the visitors. However, Al Ahly took the game to Sundowns creating some delicious chances, but Sundowns defend with their lives.

It was a South African affair with Pitso Mosimane on the Ahly bench against his former colleagues.

Sundowns showed class when they frustrated the home team with solid defence. Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker, Percy Tau was a serious threat to his former teammates, and he could have scored on the night but was not clinical in front of goals. These two African giants are still going to meet again in the return leg with Al Ahly set to travel to South Africa.
