ELM switches off electricity to owing private business and government departments

 Kopanong Hospital that owes ELM R443 953.08 has been slapped with a final written notice of demand to pay within three days.

VEREENiGING.- The Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) switched off electricty to private businesses and government departments who owe services.

Kopanong Hospital that owes ELM R443 953.08 has been slapped with a final written notice of demand to pay within three days. A South African Police Service (SAPS) Training center  that owes the ELM R700 000.00 was switched off. The hospital and other businesses will be liable to all cost related to the disconnection process as reflected in a notice.

Members of the Red Ants and ELM officials paraded outside behind the main building before they went on to switch off the businesses and government buildings owing millions of rands to the ELM.

It was a big embarrassment for most when officials came knocking at the offices of the South African Police Service Training, Labour Department and Gauteng Offices in Vereeniging wielding a warrant to switch off  on Monday.
