Imperial hands over fully equipped library  and resource centre to Qhoweng Primary School

The trustees of Imperial and Motus Community Trust officially handed over a state of the art library and resource centre at Qhoweng Primary School in Zone 13 last week.

SEBOKENG.  The trust has handed over 62 libraries in the country, with majority of their libraries being in the Gauteng Province. In Sedibeng District, 21 libraries have been handed over by the Imperial and Motus Community Trust.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, the principal, Temiki Motaung says, “Today is the biggest day for our school because our learners are victors. Teachers are secondary to these victors.  These learning centres will benefit an African child. Knowledge is power and power is in reading.”

Motaung said they are extremely grateful for this initiative by the Imperial and Motus Community Trust because not only does it aim on improving the lives and education of Qhoweng learners but those of neighbouring schools as well.

Dr Esha Mansingh Executive Vice President of Corporate affairs and Trustee says, “We are here to celebrate a momentous occasion. It is iconic because it is happening in Mandela Month and we are giving kids the gift of education.

“We have not only handed over a library but a multi-faceted resource centre that provides stimulation and access to technology.”

Mansingh said that as much as this initiative caters for people from disadvantaged backgrounds, the fact that recipients and the community at large are appreciative makes it more worthwhile.

“We provide a fully equipped library and also provide a Librarian to assist with the daily operations.”
