Week two of the Gauteng Schools Football Champions League set for Vereeniging

The champion’s league is an extension of the School Sports Wednesday League Programme implemented by the Gauteng Department of Sport.

SEDIBENG.- The Gauteng Schools Football Champions League will have its second round of games tomorrow, Wednesday, 9 August, at the President Park Sporting Ground in Vereeniging.

The first round of games of this inaugural league began on 26 August at the Rosina Sedibane School of Specialization in Tshwane, where the host school team (Rosina Sedibane), as well as Clapham High School and the SAFA Sports School of Excellence, made early strides in the tournament each earning 6 points.

Other teams to have scored points in the first round of games include Beverly Hills Secondary School with 3 points and School Bhukulani Senior Secondary and School Alexandra High School with 1 each. Following the matches on 09 August, the next round of games will be played in Rieger Park in Ekurhuleni on 29 August, then followed by 6 September in Soweto.

The grand finals will be held in Kagiso on 20 September, where the champions will be crowned, winning R100 000 cash prize. The champion’s league is an extension of the School Sports Wednesday League Programme implemented by the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture, and Recreation, together with the Gauteng Department of Education, and is supported by SAFA Gauteng.

  • Job Rathebe Secondary School, Orlando East
  • Rosina Sedibane Sport School, Laudium
  • Clapham High School, Queenswood
  • Jabulile Secondary School, Orange Farm
  • Beverly Hills Secondary School, Evaton
  • SAFA Sport School of Excellence, Germiston
  • Alexandra High School, Alexandra

Female under 15

  • Indoni Junior Secondary School, Meadowlands
  • Kwadedangendlale Secondary School, Zola
  • Jabulile Secondary School, Orange Farm
  • Khanya-Lesedi Secondary School, Ratanda
  • Mahlenga Secondary School, Bronkhorstspruit
  • Curro Academy, Soshanguve
  • Tembisa High School, Tembisa
  • Thandi Eleanor Sibeko Secondary School, Duduza
