VANDERBIJLPARK – The long-awaited bail hearing for missing baby Kutlwano’s mom has been delayed.
For several days now, Keneilwe Shalaba, the woman accused of selling her two-year-old son has been frequenting the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court to give and listen to testimonials.
On February 5, the investigating officer in her case sergeant Clayton Motloung shared details of what happened on the day the mother opened a kidnapping case.
Motloung shared his testimony during Shalaba’s bail application at the packed court A.
During his testimony, the officer attached to Sedibeng Cluster Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Assault Unit said the mother cried uncontrollably before statements were received from her.
Motloung added that he even called an ambulance for the visibly broken mother due to her hysteric cries.
“On 13 November 2024, I was on standby in Boipatong for my unit. I was contacted by the station about a kidnapping case. I proceeded to the station and met the applicant [Shalaba].”
“She was crying I couldn’t even interview her. I requested medical assistance and an ambulance was called. She was examined and told nothing was wrong,” he said.
Spilling details of what transpired following the interview moments after the examination, Motloung added that around 16:00 a trio snatched Kutlwano from her back.
Although she couldn’t give direct specifications of the vehicle the men allegedly drove in, Motloung said they searched for a silver-grey vehicle in the streets of Boipatong.
“The applicant told me that when she was walking on Bafokeng Street a car stopped and offered her a lift. When she refused the lift, one of the occupants in the vehicle opened the door, snatched Kutlwano from her and the car drove off. We only knew it was a grey or silver-grey vehicle,” he said.
While continuing the testimony, the court paused the case due to Shalaba’s return to the Johannesburg Correctional Services.
The court has since remanded the matter to February 12 for Motloung to continue with his testimony.
Shalaba awaits her fate about whether she will get bail or not.
