Sharpeville-born wonder boy single handedly downs Sundowns

Mofokeng’s silky skills were displayed much to the delight of Pirates fans who went home the loudest.

SEDIBENG.- Sharpeville-born young star Relebohile Mofokeng “single-handedly” beat Mamelodi Sundowns after he scored a brace.

Mofokeng inspired his team, Orlando Pirates when they beat the defending champions 2-1 in the incredible Betway Premier Soccer League match at FNB Stadium on Sunday. He turned this encounter into his show and ran riots over Sundowns players. Mofokeng produced a Man of the Match performance scoring twice for Pirates.

This victory revived Pirates’ chances to stay on course to challenge the league title, with Sundowns leading them with 15 points at the top. Pirates needed Mofokeng to perform miracles in this match after they suffered a heavy defeat to Sundowns in the first round last month.

The Mighty Buccaneers came into this game with a play to take the game to Sundowns. It was attack, attack, attack with Sundowns failing to cope with Pirates’ fast and furious pace. Mofokeng led at the front making Sundowns’ defense look silly. Mofokeng’s silky skills were displayed much to the delight of Pirates fans who went home the loudest.

He was all over the field, with Sundowns finding it difficult to cope with his God-given talent. As always, he was inspired by his parents on the stand. They were in the company of Vaal-based Pirates supporters who came in numbers to support this Sharpeville-born youngster who never disappoints on the day.

As if this is not enough, alcohol was served for free at some of the taverns and shebeens in Sharpeville in celebration of Mofokeng’s goals and outstanding performance. His parents left the FNB Stadium smiling all the way back to the Vaal, with everyone congratulating them for their son’s talent.

Mofokeng’s father, Sechaba (Mofokeng), owns a soccer team called Perfect Academy campaigning in the SAFA Sedibeng Hollywood Region Men’s League. He said he was stunned by his son’s performance on the day.
