Deneysville SAPS celebrates Women’s Month in style

"No one should feel afraid to walk into our station. Our doors and our hearts are open to every member of our community,” said Captain Shwan Paeschel.

DENEYSVILLE – Deneysville SAPS, together with the Women’s Network, hosted a Women’s Month event under the theme “Empower, Educate, Protect,” tackling issues such as gender-based violence (GBV), human trafficking, domestic violence, drug abuse, dementia awareness, and HIV prevention.

The station is a strong example of women’s empowerment, with three Relief Commander posts and most leadership roles held by female officers.

Sergeant Mantoa Tsotetsi opened the programme, followed by keynote speaker Warrant Officer Musa we Nkosi Jemina Moloi-Tsotetsi, who announced the launch of a new crime-reporting app.

Designed to let women report crimes anonymously, the app could also help crack unsolved cases involving murdered women.

“We urge women not to stay silent. Report domestic violence. Report abuse. Help us bring justice to the voiceless,” Tsotetsi urged.

Other speakers included CPO Constable Alfred Malau, Captain Mahlatsi of Oranjeville, and spiritual crime-prevention representative Mookamedi Khumalo.

Station Commander Captain Shwan Paeschel closed the event, stressing the station’s open-door policy: “No one should feel afraid to walk into our station. Our doors and our hearts are open to every member of our community.”

The event was both a celebration of women and a call to action, with SAPS Women’s Network reaffirming its mission to build safe spaces where women can lead, speak out, and uplift others.
